Slack eBook - The secret of productive work: how better communication delivers the biggest wins

We are super proud to be featured in this great eBook from Slack and Be The Business as one of 8 case studies.

We are big fans of Slack at Social for Good! 🤩

We work a 4-day week with flexible hours, with some fully remote members of the team and the rest splitting their time between home and the office. Streamlined communication and maximum productivity are essential for us to work this way.

We are such Slack evangelists that when we were approached by them to discuss how we work and feature in this eBook we were 100% in.

How do we use Slack at Social for Good?

  • Our Email inboxes are purely for client work; all internal communications take place on Slack.

  • We use Slack channels for each project with only relevant members of the team invited where everything related to that project is discussed, documents pinned and sometimes clients added if they use Slack.

  • We keep each other updated in internal channels on our weekly and daily goals, when we’re heading off for lunch and when we’re done for the day with an update on our achievements.

  • We use Slack status updates to share if we’re sick 🤒, on holiday 🏝️, in focus mode 🎧, loving life 🌻, or smashing it 🥷. We regularly turn off notifications if we need to get into the flow without being disturbed.

  • We use automated workflows to remind us about our deep work sessions every day - a helpful nudge to prepare a drink, turn off notifications and close all other tabs to get into the zone and achieve more in a short space of time.

  • We use huddles for quick face-to-face chats which are often quicker than typing messages.

  • We use the Loopin Slack integration for each team member to check in each morning so we can monitor wellbeing.

These are just a few of the ways Slack helps us work productively. It saves us time, it makes everyone’s work easier and it keeps us connected as a team while supporting our work culture.
